Make Your Own-Burlap/Wire Heart

I made this heart last year to include in my Valentine’s Day decor.  I had so much fun making these, I thought I would do a quick tutorial.

   To make one yourself, you will need:

 

1/2 Yard of Burlap

Silk Hydrangea Flowers ( Just pull of stems)

Glue Gun

2 Chandelier Crystals

50-55 inches-19 Gage Steel Wire ( I found mine at Atwood’s)

Glitter ( I used silver German glass glitter)

 

First, cut out 4 burlap petals. Hot glue  and layer each petal to form a four leaf clover look.

Next, pull a hydrangea blossom off a stem, and hot glue it on the center of the burlap petals.  Next, add a little glitter on the petals.

After assembling 11 petals, I cut 50 inches of steel wire.  Simple poke your petals through the burlap and space them out along wire.  After forming your heart, make a loop at the bottom like this.  

Then, twist wire together at top and form your heart. 

 

I hang a chandelier crystal from the bottom loop and from the twisted wire at the top of the heart.  

 

 

I also make these in a circle wreath shape.  Here, I used blue hydrangea petals.    Enjoy crafting!!  By the way, I would love to see your end products.  Simply email me!!

A little update on sis…  She is doing better every day.  She had her post-op appt. in OKC last week, and her doctor said that she was doing great!!  He expects her to be able to return to normal activity in about a month.   Thanks so much for keeping her in your thoughts and prayers.

Well, Oklahoma is gearing up for a MAJOR ice/snow storm.  Ice is suppose to hit Thursday, then we are expected to have anywhere from 8-12 inches of snow before it is all over.  Our winter weather has been crazy this year.   We will be spending a lot of time here in the next few days.  We have enjoyed our gas logs this year, and by the way it sounds, this could be our main source of heat after the ice hits.  Hopefully the number of power outages will be much less than expected.

Laurel- A little Update

 

She is doing well.  She was able to get up and walk a bit yesterday, so this is wonderful!!  She is one tough chick…that is for sure.  She is expected to be released from the hospital this weekend. Several friends and family members are planning visits and lots of home-made goodies will be heading her way.  I am going to make a big batch of potato soup.  Her favorite…  A home health nurse will also be visiting on a regular basis, to help get her back on her feet.  I know, with time, she will be “blowin and agoin” again. I can’t wait!!  We have a lot to accomplish in 2010.

Her surgery lasted close to five hours, but she is out and doing well.  She is still in recovery and waiting for her own hospital room.  She will there all week, but will hopefully be able to come home this weekend.  I can’t wait to see her tomorrow in Okla. City !!  Today has been an anxious one for me, but my brother-in-law was great at keeping us updated throughout her surgery.   God is good!!! Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers!!!  I believe that sis is going to have a much healthier 2010. 

As I mentioned in an earlier post, my sister has Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.Individuals with EDS have a defect in their connective tissue which provides support to many body parts such as the skin, muscles and ligaments. Although we are identical twins, and we both have the condition, she has been impacted by it much worse that I have. Continued thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated throughout her recovery process.

On a more important note, Laurel’s surgery is tomorrow morning at 11:00.  I will be shuffling kids tomorrow, but will join her in Okla. City on Thursday.  We will not be attending the January Dallas market, because her health and recovery is our main focus at this time. We know our sales team will represent us very well. We are so blessed to have wonderful reps that believe in us and our little line of products. A million thanks to you in advance. Please continue to keep Laurel in your prayers.

Our Favorite Frame and Prayer Request

 

This is our favorite frame to date.  We are so excited to include it in our new line this year.  It is the perfect “Frenchy” blue with khaki flowers, post card embellishments, and little bird and nest. Perfect!! 

New samples have been sent to the showroom, and our little catalogs are being updated/changed.  So much to do, but we are having a lot of fun along the way.  I will share our new linens later in the week. 

On a personal note, please pray for my sister.  She has a rare condition called Ehlers Danlos.  As a result, she is having major surgery on the 13th of this month in Oklahoma City.  She is feeling a lot of anxiety as the date approaches.  Her pre-op is tomorrow, so we will learn more then about what to expect surgery and recovery wise.
